Accessories

Even riflescopes and scopes can be retrofitted with various accessories that can make our job much easier during airsoft battles. Whether it is various protective elements, such as protective slides or killflashes that protect both the collimator and the rifle scope from damage from flying bullets, through various visors, making it easier to shoot in the sun. The optics lever in turn makes it easier to work when changing the zoom on the rifle scopes.

Accessories

Each of these accessories, when used properly during airsoft games or while shooting, can help us a lot! It is important to fully understand these accessories for proper use. Only by doing this can you choose the best accessory for the situation. Below we will describe the different types of collimator and scope accessories you may come across and what they are actually for.

Killflash

This accessory is most often installed by screwing it on in front of the front lens of the scope, and its primary function is to prevent sun glare or light from the lens that an enemy might notice. When using scopes in sunlight, it can very easily happen that the sun just glinting on the lens and this "glint" then reveals a previously well-hidden shooter, for example in the bushes. In many models the killflash also serves as a protection of the lens from damage, for example from a bullet. Killflash is also installed on collimators for the same reasons, both as a protection for the collimator and against light glare.  Some manufacturers, such as Vector Optics, supply killflashes as standard equipment with higher-end models.

Our Tip:
A disadvantage can be the fact that some killflashes take away from the luminosity of optical sights.

Sun visor for rifle scopes

This accessory makes it easier to shoot with a riflescope in full sun. The function is very simple: the aperture, thanks to its length, provides a shadow in front of the rifle scope lens. Thanks to this, we are not so dazzled when looking through the rifle scope. They are either screwed onto the riflescope in the same place as the killflashes, or slide onto the front of the tube. They are most often made of plastic or aircraft aluminum. As with rifle scopes, the front of the tube varies in size, so do the apertures. Therefore, this is something to watch out for when buying. With a sun visor, it is not always necessary to buy some expensive models. Here, for example, products from AIM-O will suffice.

Riflescope level

This small, but useful, spirit level tells us immediately if we have the gun level. This aspect is very important when shooting at long distances. In airsoft, where the rotation of the ball (Hop Up) causes the rifle to drift sideways when the rifle is tilted, it is essential to have the rifle in absolute plane. Levels are installed on the rifle scopes, ideally just behind the zoom wheel so that we have an immediate idea of the gun's tilt.

Protective slides in front of the collimators

A collimator, despite its small size, is at risk from a flying bullet, more specifically its front slide.
All CQB players will know this, as hits on collimators are common. For this reason, it is worth getting a protective glass. This slides in front of the collimator glass. Good quality glass will not distort the view through the collimator. When buying, it is very important to check the compatibility with your model of collimator. For us we can recommend protective slides from Vector Optics, which can be used on various collimators where the diameter of the front glass is 28-30 mm.

The price of the protective slide is around 4 EUR, for this price it will protect our collimators worth hundreds, even thousands of crowns, that's a good deal!

Cleaning cloth for optics / collimator

These special cloths are designed for cleaning the lenses of rifle scopes and collimators. Their texture is, unlike other materials, gentle to the lenses and does not damage them, nor does it damage the protective surfaces of the lenses. It is recommended to use them together with optics cleaning solutions.

Our Tip:
Avoid using paper napkins, tissues or other similar materials when cleaning optics and rifle scopes. These materials often contain small hard particles that scratch the glass, and especially the lens surfaces, making it difficult to see through them.

Zoom lever for rifle scope

This lever is used together with the rifle scope. It is mounted on the zoom wheel. It makes working with the zoom very easy. When buying them, we again have to follow the manufacturer's recommendation regarding compatibility and tube diameter.
Another advantage is that the lever on the scope, looks really cool!

Rangefinder

This accessory is a small but useful companion for any sniper. Thanks to the rangefinder, we can measure the distance to the target very accurately, which increases our chances of an accurate hit. Most rangefinders are small in size, very lightweight and already have a built-in zoom so we can see the target much better. Some higher end rangefinder models can then be linked to an app on your phone that is also a ballistic chart.

In airsoft, rangefinders are used to point the gun at specific meters. In an airsoft game, it is then easier to check how far away the target is and where to aim with a well-shot weapon.
