Grips for airsoft replicas

When it comes to choosing the right grip for your airsoft gun, there are almost endless options on the market. Therefore, we can't tell you that only this or that particular model is the best one, as it's all about the individual feel of each player. As with other accessories, it is better to feel and test your chosen grip live on your gun.

What's the grip on the gun?

A grip, or also a handgrip, is a small accessory of a weapon that is directly held in the shooter's hand and at the same time, thanks to its shape, improves the grip of the weapon. This improves the control of the weapon when shooting itself. Grips and grips come in a variety of colours and shapes. Most often they are made of plastic or aluminium. Grips and grips are mounted on the lower part of the forearm of your gun using the most common methods, namely RIS, M-LOK, KeyMod, etc.
But which type is right for you? It is not easy to answer this question completely, because every player has different requirements and demands, but we will try to help you as much as possible with the choice in the online environment.

There are countless types of grips, tactical grips and minigrips, but they are basically divided into two main types, namely vertical tactical grips and tactical angled/angled grips, which are then further subdivided according to their shapes, dimensions and weapon attachment system (Key-mod, RIS etc...)

Vertical tactical grips

The vertical grip was one of the very first accessories for RIS. This type is mainly used for CQB and allows faster transfer from target to target and more effective control of the weapon when firing. The Vertical Handle is available in a variety of lengths and thicknesses, so you can choose the exact option that best suits your hands and preferences. Vertical grips are popular not only because of their advantage when shooting at close range, but also because of the professional, tactical/military look that we can recognize from past barrel decorations.

Pros of Vertical Tactical Grips

Vertical grips allow for better gun control when shooting at short distances. Additionally, many proponents of vertical grips claim that they allow for a more natural hand and shoulder position and are more comfortable for prolonged shooting. However, this is an individual matter.
Another, less frequently cited benefit of a vertical grip for your gun is that they often include a small but incredibly useful storage compartment in the grip. This space can be used to store spare flashlight batteries, small tools, and some even come with a small deployable bipod for longer range shooting.

Cons of vertical tactical grips

Vertical grips are not without their faults, however. Some airsoft players or shooters find vertical grips too long and cumbersome. Another common complaint is that while vertical grips provide more control of the weapon when shooting at shorter distances, they are not entirely suitable for shooting at longer distances.
Finally, shooters who primarily shoot from a sitting or lying down position are more likely to find a vertical grip a hindrance.

Angled / Oblique Tactical Grips

A more recent innovation of the original version, this is a happy medium between vertical grips and the standard version. Sometimes the handles are called triangles.
Using an angled grip allows for better control of the weapon at close range and a more natural grip angle, which some shooters find more ergonomic and therefore more comfortable. Again, this is an individual experience.
These grips also allow for easier gripping of the gun using the so-called C-clamp, which is one of the most modern and popular shooting grips practiced. This type has gained popularity with airsoft shooters in part due to its emergence in the world of civilian tactical shooting, as well as the relative comfort it offers.

Pros of angled tactical grips

Angled grips come in a wide variety of designs. The real appeal of an angled foregrip, however, is usually that they are lightweight and give you the ability to use whatever style of grip you are most comfortable with, plus it allows shooters to use a thumb grip (C-clamp) for even better gun control. Due to the shape, it can also be used as a hand stop.

Cons of angled tactical grips

As with vertical grips, you need to find the right size for your hand. Angled grips also cause you to pay more attention to hand placement. When used on real guns, an angled grip that is mounted too far forward can cause your hand to slip forward or backward while holding the gun during firing - especially if there is no hand stop.

Manufacturers of grips for airsoft guns

Among our proven grip manufacturers are FMA, WADSN, 5KU.  However, these are accessories on which not much can go wrong. The only thing you really have to watch out for is proper installation and be sure the grip is well and tightly installed. Losing a tactical grip is the least you could do.

Installing tactical grips on a gun

As previously written, it depends on the mounting lock of the grip. The most commonly encountered grips are the RIS, M-LOK and KeyMod grips. For most models, simply slipping it onto the RIS rail or inserting it into the appropriate hole and then tightening the screws is sufficient. These can be found either on the side or inside the handle. On older models, we can find the screwed bottom part of the handle.
