Cylinders

Cylinders

This part is part of the air system in AEG weapons. Cylinder is actually a polished stainless steel tube in which the piston moves and is topped with a cylinder head. Stainless steel is most commonly used as the material of manufacture, but iron or lightweight aluminum are also available for using in airsoft guns.

The cylinders exist as a version with a hole or full. The location of the holes and their eventual placement on the cylinder body determines the amount of air capacity the cylinder can hold. The position of the hole is then dependent on the length of the inner barrel.

It is important to keep the inside lubricated with a suitable silicone lubricant at all times to increase the slip and tightness about the ring. There are some cylinders that have a slightly rougher inner surface because of this, so the lubrication effect will be a bit longer than on perfectly polished, where the lubricant has nowhere to adhere.

Watch the quantity of lube. It is necessary to use only a small amount of lubricant, otherwise there is a risk of it entering the hop up chamber through the nozzle. The lubricant then stops hopping the balls.

Cylinders are manufactured as universal as well as for specific mechaboxes ( V2 and V3). They also sell variants where the cylinder is fixed in the cylinder head. This solution has a disadvantage, such as a slightly worse replacement of the head impact rubber, as well as the possibility that this set does not fit well in the mechabox.

NBU cylinders belong to the NBU airbox set (the sets have an enlarged diameter for higher air volume), so they are incompatible with standard airbox parts.
