Why you should buy a GBB Rifle

Tips & tricks Features for You Review

In this article we will take a closer look at GBBR weapons. We'll cover their advantages, disadvantages, what Green Gas to use, how to care for them, and why they might be just what you need to elevate your airsoft experience.

Why you should buy a GBB Rifle

What is the magic of GBBR?

The GBBR long guns are some of the most faithful replicas on the airsoft market, offering an unsurpassed shooting and handling experience. Key benefits include:

Recoil

  • Long GBBRs, like their smaller gas pistol counterparts, have blowback when fired. The main difference is the different weight between the slide of the pistols and the bolt of the long gas guns, which makes the blowback feel more pronounced and enhances the realistic shooting experience.

Real magazine capacity

  • The magazine capacities of gas guns directly replicate the number of bullets in the magazine as their real counterparts. Players must therefore try to shoot accurately while playing and to limit wasting precious ammunition, as they can't afford to spray pellets all over the place like with the AEG replicas. The GBBR replicas will test your skills, whether shooting or strategic, and it's up to you how you approach them.

Moving parts (bolt)

  • The entire gas weapon system works purely mechanically. For this reason, all manipulation of the weapon, from cocking the bolt to the bolt catch, is identical to a real weapon. All this adds value for players with a passion for, for example, shooting exercises and drills, or for mere enthusiasts of live weapons.
  • The disassembly itself is then, for example, practically identical to the real counterpart with the VFC system. The MWS system is less authentic in this respect, but makes up for it with its excellent functionality and reliability.

Gas blowback replicas converted to High Pressure Air (HPA)

One of the big advantages of gas guns is the easy conversion to the HPA system, you just need an HPA adaptér that you plug into the magazine well instead of a standard magazine, connect the hose and use classic AEG magazines.

It is a very efficient and cheap solution, as the adapters usually come out to the same price as about 2 normal gas magazines. Cheap AEG magazines also relieve you of the worry of dropped or lost magazines, while increasing the capacity from the normal approx. 30 rounds to tens to hundreds of rounds as is common with AEG magazines.

Most popular, proven GBB systems

There are many gas systems (in this case on the AR15/M4 platform), in this section we will introduce you, but the most popular and most used ones, we have 4 of them in our country at the moment

  • The classic "good old" WE, which is one of the most popular, but also probably the most faulty systems, the plus points are that thanks to this there is a large stock of practically all the necessary parts on the market, low purchase price, availability of magazines and accessories. But it is necessary to invest in the weapon practically out of the box for reinforced internal parts and fixing the factory malfunctions.
  • Next, GHK, which provides high recoil, can be used  even with CO2 and therefore works even in worse weather, but unfortunately there are problems with the quality of the production, reliability and availability and thus a higher purchase price, not to mention the price of magazines, which is around 2500 crowns per piece.
  • Then there's the VFC system, which boasts high durability, excellent recoil, workmanship and gas efficiency. The only problem here is availability, as this brand is popular mainly in Asia and only limited quantities are imported to Europe, which also makes finding spare parts more difficult.
  • Last but not least we have one of the most important and best systems ever, the ZET System from Tokyo Marui, also known as the MWS system after their first model with this design, stands out for its low gas consumption, accuracy, low failure rate and functionality. With this system, we currently have licensed replicas fromm Double Eagle, which are upgraded from the ground up with steel trigger parts.

Good Gas and BBs are the most important

We strongly recommend the use of silicone-free gases such as Ultrair for GBBR weapons. You can read more about gases in our article ''Airsoft gases: what you need to know''

Maintenance of GBB Rifles

The idea of maintaining gas weapons may appeal scary to some people. However, it is nothing complicated. The mainstay of a well-functioning GBBR replica is the use of quality silicone vaseline and occasional degreasing and cleaning. We don't recommend using only oil to lubricate your replica (shooting will spread it around the gun in places you don't want it).

Special care should be taken to properly lubricate all rails on which the bolt moves during firing. After mastering this task, we have almost won. However, we must not forget to remove the bolt once in a while and clean it and the other parts of the gun from dirt that likes to stick to the lubricant.

The final part of the maintenance then concerns the occasional spraying of the fill and release valve with silicone oil. To maximize the service life, we recommend leaving gas in the tanks. This will prevent unwanted drying out of the sealing rings in the reservoir.
