Airsoft Weapons and Ammo for Beginners Delta Armory

Want to get your child away from the computer and out into nature? Then Airsoft is the perfect choice as it combines the youngsters' enthusiasm for the military and outdoor sports.

However, choosing the right equipment to start with can be a tricky task as the range is wide and not every airsoft replica is suitable for airsoft newbies.

So let's cover the basics to help you choose the right quality gear for combat at a reasonable price.

Airsoft Weapons and Ammo for Beginners Delta Armory

When selecting an airsoft replica, it is important to know for what purpose the replica will be used. Most often, beginners look for the following weapons: spring powered riffles, GBB pistols, AEG weaponssniper riffles

Below we will try to identify the advantages and disadvantages for a young beginner. This should help you make the right choice.

How to choose the first airsoft gun?

There are several parameters that should not be forgotten.

1. Age plays an important role.

If you're buying a new airsoft replica for your child, it's definitely a good idea to consider age and eligibility. All airsoft guns, including small pistols, are considered Category D weapons. Therefore, the sale is only available from the age of 18. If you are considering purchasing for a child under 18, we recommend use under at least adult supervision.

2. Weapon weight and physics

Anyone can hold an airsoft gun for a while. But running around the woods all day with 2-3kg in your hand is a bigger nut to crack. That's why we recommend young enthusiasts to use lighter polymer guns, which can be up to 0.5kg lighter. Polymer bodies are characterized by, for example, the Flex series replicas from Specna Arms.

If you know that weight is not an issue then a metal body gun is always a good choice for long term use.

Furthermore, weight plays a big role in proportion to the length of the gun. The longer the gun, the less balanced and less comfortable to carry.

3. Playstyle

Do you enjoy running and shooting? Try some short SMG. Or do you prefer to cover your allies from a distance from cover? Then a DMR with optics is ideal for you.

But we still recommend some universal electrics to start with, and you'll see which playstyle suits you.

Our tip:

We know from experience that machine guns, sniper rifles or the aforementioned DRM often end up in the bazaars and newcomers prefer to reach (unfortunately, on the second try) for a shorter AEG (electric long gun).

4. Price/quality ratio

Get expert advice in this chapter. There are plenty of replicas on the market that are nice to look at, but over time you'll find that they are just a big-ticket "souped-up Felicia".

We focus on quality brands for which spare parts, magazines and batteries are available. This makes the gun easily repairable with minimal expense should any problem arise. Delta Armory, Specna Arms, Raven or Vorsk, for example.

What type of airsoft gun to choose?

Manuální airsoftové pistole

Manual pistols are really suitable for smaller enthusiasts who should learn the basic handling of the weapon. That means, first of all, not pointing and shooting at anyone.

Manual pistols are good for target shooting at short range. We definitely do not recommend pistols in this category for active airsoft play. The guns are weak and anyone with an electric weapon would have a distinct advantage, leading to a poor airsoft experience and subsequent reluctance to play at all.

The basic principle of operation of these guns is the repeated cocking of the slide before each shot. A certain amount of force must be exerted to cock the bolt. We therefore always recommend that you test whether the person in question has sufficient strength to cock the slide before buying.

Manuální pistole jsou vhodné skutečně pro menší nadšence, kteří by se měli naučit základní manipulaci se zbraní. To znamená především nemířit a nestřílet na nikoho.

Advantages of the manual gun

+ low price

+ low weight

Disadvantages of manual guns

- the need to cock (reload) before each shot

- significantly shorter range compared to electric or gas guns

- poorer quality of workmanship (adequate to the price)

Gas operated airsoft guns (GBB)

GBB / NBB gas pistols are extremely realistic compared to manual pistols and therefore belong in the hands of responsible players. Gas pistols have much more power, which allows you to hit targets at 30 - 40 meters.

Although the power is already higher in this category, we still recommend gas pistols especially for target shooting or as a second weapon to a long electric gun. This is because, compared to electric "submachine guns", pistols have a much smaller number of bullets (about 20 shots per magazine) and are then at a disadvantage in combat.

Gas pistols are suitable for training for a firearms licence due to their moving slide (the so-called BlowBack system) and realistic analysis.

You can read more about gas guns in our article: "All about Airsoft pistols". Here you can read, for example, what gases or CO2 cartidges you need to power these guns.

Advantages of airsoft gas guns (GBB)

+ realistic design

+ shooting range 30 - 40 metres

+ movable slide

+ realistic analysis of GBB weapons

Disadvantages of airsoft GBB guns

- higher purchase price

- necessity to fill with gas

- greater weight of some models

Electric airsoft guns (AEG)

AEG airsoft replicas, often referred to simply as "airsoft guns", are the most commonly used category in airsoft. At the same time, electric guns (called "electricians") are the ideal

These replicas require a battery to operate, which is most often hidden in the stock of the gun. The guns are particularly popular because of their automatic firing.

The replicas are available in both all-metal versions, which will be welcomed by more mature individuals, and in lighter polymer versions, which are aimed particularly at young players.

Everything you need to know about electric weapons can be found in our article:  "Electric Arisoft Weapons (AEG)".

Advantages of airsoft electric guns (AEG)

+ automatic firing mode

+ Range 50 - 60 metres

+ large variety of models from M4 to AK

+ possibility of buying all kinds of accessories

+ large availability of attachments

Disadvantages of airsoft electric guns (AEG)

- risk of damage to the battery wiring if mishandled

- more complex system (occasional servicing may be required)

Airsoft sniper rifles

Sniper rifles are a very specific but popular group of airsoft guns. Almost everyone who starts out wants to be a "sniper". Unfortunately, the reality is often different.

Conventional sniper rifles are fundamentally as strong, if not weaker, than standard electric weapons. Unless you are going to invest money in an upgrade, or purchase an already upgraded rifle from, for example, Specna Arms or Silverback, the player is likely to leave the playing field with a bad experience, because while he fired 3 shots, the enemy on the other side sent 200 shots.

Another disadvantage is the necessity to pull the slide lever every time before each shot, which can be exhausting or even impossible for young players because the spring resistance is too high.

That's why we recommend sniper rifles for a little bit experienced players who know how to move on the battlefield and know how to find their target.

It is important to get a good quality optic for a sniper rifle. For starters, we can recommend optics from Theta Optics. However, experienced players will appreciate the quality of Vector Optics.

Důležité je hlavně k odstřelovací pušce pořídit kvalitní optiku. Do začátku můžeme doporučit optiky od značky Theta Optics. Zkušení hráči však jistě ocení kvalitu značky Vector Optics

Advantages of airsoft sniper rifles

+ no battery or gas required

+ minimal maintenance

+ works in all weather

Disadvantages of airsoft sniper rifles

- the need to retract before each shot

- length of the weapon

- more demanding playing style
